I love Arsenal Football Club.
There, I said it.
If you are reading this then I guess that you also have a love for the club.
Ever since the wonderful Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory decided to form a team in 1886, the club’s following has gone from strength to strength. The world has changed exponentially over the past 126 years, as now we are all able to reach a worldwide army of like minded followers; people who cheer the club from the heart and who love the brand of football that we preach, regardless of nationality or location.
Admittedly the past few years have been difficult for our legion of supporters to stomach. The club’s history has been built on continual growth and success. Some moan about the current position we are in, and yes, their frustrations can be heard and understood. Yet, pride remains. Pride remains despite what occurs in the other half of North London and pride remains despite the success being bought by the sugar daddy rivals elsewhere in the capital (although this hasn’t quite worked out at QPR).
I have chosen to name the blog “Rouge London”. “Rouge” is French for red. And whilst I am a proud Englishman and patriot, I accept that all of us owe a great deal to the man that revolutionised our club and ushered it into the 21st Century; Arsene Wenger.
(Another reason is that the name “Red London” was already taken…..)
In any case, the sentiment remains. London is Red, London is Rojo, London is Rouge…. and always will be!
I want this to be an open forum for your thoughts (as well as mine).
I want this to be another haven for like minded Arsenal fans.
I look forward to speaking with you all soon.
